Donor Sperm
We offer the use of donor sperm from various sperm banks. Although in-vitro fertilization may treat the vast majority of male factor infertility, donor sperm may be used when the male partner is infertile or when there is no male partner. As such some individuals are aware of the need for donor sperm prior to an initial appointment and plans are initiated for this therapy during the first evaluation. When it is determined that donor sperm is necessary the patient and partner, if there is one, will require screening prior to donor selection. Once the screening is complete and the results are reviewed patients may select their donor specimen. The patient's specimen is shipped directly to the office for use during the treatment cycle.
Sperm donor banks offer lists of donor characteristics: ethnic heritage, blood type, interests and level of education or occupation. Some sperm banks offer extended donor profiles which include additional information on the donor which patients may request from the banks.
